Over the past few weeks, the students of 3rd grade were challenged to draw a life-size human figure, using only a piece of cardboard, a plastic cup and black paint. We split the activity in two days. The first one to draw the silhouette, and the second one to make the face and clothes.
For this lesson, the class was divided in groups of 3 or 4 people. Then, we went to the playground and the students organized themselves to measure one member of the group and paint the silhouette on the paper. They used the cardboard to draw lines and the cup to mark the joints of the body. The next day, they drew the face using a black marker and painted the clothes with a paint roller or a brush.
Everybody had a lot of fun, worked hard and the results are a BIG success!
